MAG is very much involved in the fight against homophobia, transphobia and all discriminations and advocates equality for gays, lesbians and transgender people.

Here you will find an overview of our political and educational actions as well as a brief history of the gay liberation movement in France.

Negative images of homosexuality, rejection by family, peer group hostility, isolation, and lack of support can combine to create the most intense pressures for gay and lesbian youth. The result is this self-hate that leads an alarmingly high percentage of gay and lesbian youth to inflict violence upon themselves through suicide attempts or high-risk behaviours. The MAG takes part to lobbying for civil rights, promotes the struggle against all discriminations, and participates in public demonstrations.
Throughout the year, the MAG participate to the major demonstrations for LGBT people :
Existrans : the pride parade for transgender people in Paris (october)
the international day against AIDS (1st of december)
the international day against homophobia (17th of may)
"Marche des fiertés LGBT" : Paris gay pride (last week end of June)

It’s during the 1920’s, a period French people have come to call "the Crazy Years", that homosexuality gains visibility in the cultural and artistic milieu of Paris - which means greater freedom. The literary groups and cabarets that flourish in the city give gays and lesbians places to socialize and meet.
The 2nd World War brings this era of freedom to an end. The Vichy regime, controlled by the Maréchal Pétain, promotes the "Work, Family, Nation" motto and is intent on fighting (...)
